Which entrance exam should I take before applying to your program: GMAT or GRE?
You must take the GRE; no other tests are accepted. Typical admission scores range in the 50th percentile or above in all three areas.
Are there any prerequisites to apply to the MPA program?
No there are no prerequisites. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and submit all requested application materials to be considered. Applicants with a diverse range of majors are accepted each year. It is strongly suggested, however, that students without any collegiate math courses or those who do not feel that they have strong skills in this area should take a brush-up course to improve their skills on the GRE in the quantitative section. Refresher courses can also be found online at no cost to the application. Feel free to contact Pamela Adams at padams@eller.arizona.edu for further information.
What is the deadline for applications?
For those wishing to be considered for scholarships or GRAs, the application deadline is March 1 for international students and April 15 for domestic applicants. For those not applying for financial assistance the deadline is August 1. View admissions and application details.
Can I apply as a part-time student?
Yes, but you must work with your advisor on curriculum requirements and complete your degree within 5 years.
View the MPA Admissions site for links to the online application form, along with a list of other requirements for admission.
Is financial assistance available?
There are several opportunities for financial assistance through UA's Financial Aid Office. The Graduate College may offer tuition scholarships, associateships, and work study, as well. Additionally, the School offers a few scholarships and awards to highly qualified applicants. However, available funds may be limited so it is best to apply early.
What type of jobs do MPA graduates take upon completion of their degree?
MPA graduates have been placed in at various federal, state, and local government agencies. Recent graduates have been placed at The Getty Museum in Los Angeles, the Johnson Space Center, Capital Research Center in Washington D.C., and the University of Wyoming. View recent alumni placements.
Are classes offered in the evening?
Yes, beginning in fall of 2009, core classes will be offered in the evening and students can obtain their MPA degree in as little as two years going full-time. Please contact Pamela Adams at padams@eller.arizona.edu for further details.
How much will it cost to get my MPA?

Why should I get an MPA degree?
Recent data suggests that in this economy, public sector employment is one of the few areas projected for growth. Public sector management faces real challenges in the coming years and an MPA from the School of Public Administration and Policy from The University of Arizona will prepare you with the necessary skills to meet real-world challenges and make a difference. Flexible scheduling and evening classes will help you accomplish this at your own pace. Interested applicants can contact Pamela Adams at padams@eller.arizona.edu to discuss how an MPA can move their career forward. View more about why you should get an MPA degree from Eller.
